ABSTRACT WORKS
Bruises
Karen Khouth is a Cambodian-American mixed-media artist. In her recent abstract painting series ‘Bruises’, Karen uses bright colors painted in quick brushstrokes that pop amongst painted 'skin' to tell the story of the passing-pains people experience through life. Her work is inspired by the history of her Cambodian heritage while living in America. She studies the pains, hardships, and joyful evolution of Cambodian culture with the hopes to exhibit an artform that brings brightness over it’s dark history.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Walks of Life
In Karen’s on-going project called ‘Walks of Life’, she focuses on photographing humans in their transient nature. Through the simple act of watching how strangers move past one another, Karen aims to capture the cultural nuances of various walks of life. In the following represented works, she capture walks of life from lands in East Asia / Southeast Asia & North America / South America. Through this series, she hopes to highlight how we can better understand different cultures by remaining present around the moving beings around us.
